The Pennington County Courthouse is a two-story addition with basement that was constructed in the existing courtyard area.
The addition was constructed above the old courtyard area, which had corroded beams and an existing expansion joint prior to construction. Careful design consideration was provided to replace all of the corroded steel as well as to structurally tie the addition to only one side of the existing expansion joint.
